(Women) You could become one of three things for your family Christmas?
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009You could either become your families Christmas tree or you could become a statue/fountain in the yard that would be decorated for Christmas or you could become your daughter’s toy doll that she would get for Christmas. All of these changes would be permanent. Which would you choose?

Friday, November 20th, 2009here is my revised version… could you point out some more things I need to fix other than dialogue?
The Desert Walkers
I pulled at the chains that kept me in the relentless heat of the desert sun. I pulled and pulled until my wrists had bled. I gave up in utter defeat.
I screamed into the empty desert, “Please give me some water.”
I was not convinced that I would get water, other then the leafless tree that held me in place the desert was empty, not a soul in sight.
To my surprise a young man came towards me carrying a set of keys.
He unlocked my chains and grabbed me by the arm.
“Come,” he said in a deep voice.
He looked down at me; the way he looked at me gave me the goose bumps. His dark eyes showed sorrow, but everything else showed no emotion at all.
“Why did you take me?” I asked bluntly.
“You are one of us.” Ha answered just as bluntly.
“Who are ‘us’?” I asked.
“We are the Desert Walkers.” He answered.
“Who are the Desert Walkers?” I asked.
Instead of answering he gave me a sad look.
“If I am one of you, why did you keep me out there?” I asked giving an involuntary shiver remembering my stay in the unforgiving desert.
“We needed to make sure you are one of us,” he answered.
Why would I need to stay in the hot desert for them to make sure I was one of them?
Like he could read my mind he said, “Look at your wrists.”
I looked at my down at my wrists. To my surprise they were not cut up they were healed. “Oh my. How did I do that?”
He looked at me and smiled. “We are what mortals call superhuman, we can live on little to nothing to eat or drink, we have powers that would amaze any human, as you already know we heal at an inhumanly rate, and we do not die.”
Why did this have to happen to me? I want to live a normal life with all my friends and family. Would I ever be able to see my friends or family again? I broke down into tears.
“Why are you crying? Shouldn’t you be happy?” he asked, confused
“Happy, how could I be happy? Will I ever be able to see my friends or family again, will I be able to graduate high school with all my friends, will I be able to go to college?” I asked not realizing my voice had been gaining volume as I went on and on.
““Well, no you will not be able to see your friends or family again, you will graduate high school, just not with your friends, and you do have the choice to go to college,” he said.
I felt like he understood me. He had probably gone through the same thing I had.
“We better hurry up if we want to get dinner.” He said.
“Dinner, I thought you said we did not have to eat?” I said.
“Well, we do not need to, but it is better if we do.” He said.
“Oh, okay.” I said.
We stopped at a large rock and he entered I code into a little box disguised as a rock. Then all the sudden a small crack in the desert sand opened into a narrow case of stairs.
Realizing I did not know his name, I inquired curiously, "What’s your name?"
‘“My name is Kamilo.” he answered.
We walked in silent all the way down the stairs until we reached a door.
Kamilo covered my eyes and said “I want this to be a surprise when you walk in.”
When he uncovered my eyes I was amazed. It was beautiful, a marble fountain sat in the middle of a circle of golden buildings and houses of solid marble sat in yards of perfectly cut green grass. How did they get grass to grow underneath the hot lifeless desert above us?
“Welcome home.” Kamilo said

What do you think of my story so far? really short.?
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009My story is called Sewer Rat and it is about a girl in the Holocaust that is in charge of her little brother because both of her parents die later on. Please let me know what you think of it right now
Sewer Rat
“Mommy, I’m hungry.” Little jack groaned. He wasn’t the only one who was hungry; everyone in this town was starving. Everyone except the Nazis.
“I know, Jack, I know. But Boo will be back soon with bread and water and we can have a feast!”
“A feast!” Little jack screamed and his eyes grew wide with excitement.
“Yes my son a feast.”
This is how my life went. Always searching for that one scrap of food one of the guards dropped. I was like a rat, no worse than that, a sewer rat. I knew I shouldn’t sink so low as to eat their trash but the ache in my stomach dragged me to their level. I ate everything I could find, not wondering if it would make me sick. I didn’t think, I just survived. I learned that the mind can stand a lot as long as you don’t think.
The fresh air caressed my cheek and played with my hair. It felt so nice to be outside once more! I looked down and the cobblestones and back up to the blue sky. I felt the mist from the fountain on my neck and the soft call of pigeons sounded like music. I was so glad I decided to bring Little Jack here to play.
“Anya, watch me!” Little Jack said, excitement dripping from his words. I turned my head a fraction to see a mob of brown fall to the bottom of the far wall. Then I realized that Little Jack had jumped of the wall again. When he steadied himself he looked up and met my disapproving glace. I searched his deep brown eyes for any chance that he resented his actions. I decided he needed some help to know what he did wrong.
“Little Jack you know Boo said not to do that.”
“Why do I care what Boo says!” He screamed, I know he had the right to say this, but I still think disrespecting Boo like that is rude.
“Because, Jack, Boo gave you life, that’s why you should listen to him.”
“Anya, Boo is mean, I hate him. So I will not listen.” He said a pout on his face. I had to admit this was right. Poor Little Jack, Boo was not as kind to him as he was to me.
“You cannot hate Boo, he is your father.”
“I don’t care! He is not my father; I was not born to him.”
That’s when I heard the harsh sounds coming up the cobblestone street. The vowels stung me harder than any wasp would have a chance at. The Germans were here.
“In the bushes!” I cried to Jack as he scampered to the hedges surrounding the yard.
We ducked down under the branches in hopes that the guards wouldn’t see us through the brush. I knew we shouldn’t have come here, but Little Jack was begging for some time outside. Ever since the Germans have moved in we have to be careful about what we do or say. Anyone could be a spy.
I saw their shiny black boots stop in front of the fountain which, moments ago, had been flocked by birds. It was scary to know even the animals avoided these people.
“I heard the noise from here. They must be around.” said the younger of the two men, “We must keep searching.”
“Yes, we will my son, but not today. Let them be for today.” Spoke the older man, he sounded softer than the other ones, a pin among nails.
Then the boots were gone.
“Hurry Jack, we must leave now.”
Anya is not Little Jack’s mom, she is his sister but her parents are taken away so she has to take care of him
Do British people feel closer to Americans OR Europeans?
Monday, September 28th, 2009Like which of these scenes would be less of a culture shock for a British person? #1? Or #2?
1) French-speaking cafes and bakeries, German beer yards, Dutch chocolate shops, Belgian waffels, Spanish tapas, Italian gelaterias, Austrian operas, Hungarian fountains, etc etc etc
OR
2) Completely different! Wild West Texas Gun shows and cowboys and honky tonk pianos and Texas ranches and wide open stretches of farmland and rocky mountains and Desert on a journey west west west via Las Vegas casinos and Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA sunset strip. OUT WEST TO CALIFORNIA BABY!!!!!!!! Across the width of the United States of America. English the only spoken language, except some Spanish-speakers.
What is more comforting for British people?
