What mods does my Dodge Ram 1500 need to be as tough as a 2500?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I started a landscaping company several years back, and i purchased a 2002 dodge ram 1500, for about 16,000 dollars. It was all i needed to pull mowers around at the time, but now I need to pull larger equipment, and horse trailers and the truck just isnt made for it. It has the 5.9 liter 360 in it, which comes in alot of the 2500’s, and even 3500’s. So i know the motor can do the work, its just whether the transmission (transfer case in 4×4 mode) can handle the duty. I’m already putting helper springs on the rear, to help it carry the load. I’m just wondering about the tranny, any help would be appreciated. I would appreciate only knowledgeable replies only. Thank you in advance.
even w/out the added clutch packs that come in the 2500’s and 3500’s? Is the transfer case the same? What exactly does 2500 HD include? Would it be worth it for me to just purchase a 2500, or just beef my 1500 up? My truck only has 70,000 miles on it.

Building a pond…………….Tips?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I asked this question in the Garden & Landscaping section and thought maybe you guys would have some experience maybe building a pond or something. My cousin and I are planning on building a pond on his farm this summer. We have the equipment to dig the pond with (backhoe, skidloader, and various shovels.) We also have a liner for the bottom of the pond so it doesn’t leak. The plan is to make it around 12 feet long, 6 feet wide, and about 4 feet deep shaped like a peanut. We want it this deep because during the winter here in South Dakota it gets cold and we don’t want the water to completely freeze when we have fish in there. The problem we have is we don’t know what to do for the aeration. We want to keep various fish and plants in the pond and we want them to stay alive. Are there any cheap waterfall type aeration systems you can buy or make that work for our situation. Thank you for the answers!

I have arborvitaes that I planted last yr, but they are brown on the bottoms. ?

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I have dogs and was told that arborvitaes don’t like even a hint of dogs. What can I do to keep these trees alive. They are brown about a foot up from the ground, and green the rest of the way up. I can’t get rid of my dogs, so is there another cure for my problem?

Photography Opinions?

I posted this a few weeks ago, but I’ve updated my work and am looking for critiques and criticism/praise/etc. Just wondering your opinion on my work? Honesty is the best policy, any advice/tips/tricks/etc is much appreciated.

I use a wide array of cameras, all Nikon. Ranging from the D40, D60, and the D80. I’ve been working as a photographer for close to seven years now, I prefer landscapes and animals, but I’m currently enrolled in a few live-subject photography classes.
