Want to have a wedding-like party (not legal marriage). need help planning. male/female couple.?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

my boyfriend and i want to have a wedding. our little girl really wants it too and we’d like to have a celebration. possibly combine w/ housewarming since we are buying a new home. a backyard kinda thing. yard has a pond/fountain and bi-level deck. what could we call it? since we are male/female couple, no offense, we dont want to call it a commitment ceremony. it sounds too "alternative". my boyfriend would also like to make a commitment to my daughter. nothing super fancy, just sweet. an officiate of some sort, or perhaps just us exchanging vows? how should we word the invite? creative ideas needed!
i’m only asking for creative ideas. commitment ceremony is not what we want to call it. i’m looking for other ideas. i want to plan a party, not discuss the etiquette nor the politics of the situation. thanks.

How do you start a dogwood tree?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I have a small seed pod that was in the center of the flower, but I don’t know if planting this will work or now. The ppod is off a very healthy tree. The only other way I can think of is to try from the new branches. I would like to know so that I can plant this tree in my yard.

Zoysia grass plugs?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I live in central Alabama and was just wondering if it would be good for me to try the zoysia grass plugs for my lawn. I know it’s supposed to be a "warm" grass but that’s about all I know about it. I have very clay soil as well. I don’t know if that will matter.

Is there a way to get rid of “goat heads”? (Weeds that have spikey burrs with yellow flowers in Eastern CO)

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Nothing I have tried kills them, I pull them constantly but the house next door has a terrible weed problem. They are fast growing and viney and even the garden shops have different ideas. I wish I could find something environmentally safe and not have to torch my whole back yard!

Soil Test Results?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I live in the north east section of Mississippi. I had my soil tested, with the following results (I have and plan on using Centipede Grass)

Soil pH is 5.4
Phosphorus level is 78lbs/acre (high)
Potassium level is 173 lbs/acre (medium)
Magnesium level is 75 lbs/acre (high)
Zinc level is 3.5 lbs/acre (high)
Calcium level is 429 lbs/acre

Further states that pH of soil is acid, and no lime is recommended.

Can anyone break this down into simple language for me as to what this test is telling me and what I should do to have a healthy lawn?

Thanks
